Featured Presentation

DELL/Quest Software Foglight and Spotlight Performance Monitoring for SQL Server

Speaker: Vadim Kulikov, Senior DBA / Database Infrastructure Engineer

Summary: During your career as MSSQL DBA or Database Engineer, you are responsible for many different aspects of the database environment. While there are many native tools and techniques that can assist with troubleshooting efforts, depending on the size of the environment and the SLA expectations, there are certain types of issues that are much more challenging to address quickly without the help of 3rd party products. I would like to introduce one of the two most popular Performance Management solutions for SQL server from DELL (formerly Quest): "Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise" and "Foglight Performance Analysis for SQL Server" that are designed to detect, alert, diagnose and analyze SQL server performance over time before it impacts end users and service levels.

About Vadim: Born and raised in Moscow, Russia, Vadim migrated to Los Angeles in 1994. He graduated from State University of Aerospace Technology in Moscow with an M.S. in Computer Science. He has been providing DB solutions in different capacities for most major platforms and operating systems including (Sybase, MySQL, DB2, Oracle & MSSQL) for over 15 years. He has worked for a handful of Fortune 500 companies in very large distributed environments as well as supported smaller database implementations on a budget. Vadim is an avid ping pong player and also enjoys volleyball and boxing.
